The Task

Context

Baumit wanted to simplify facade colour selection without shipping physical sample boards everywhere. Users photograph a building and preview coatings directly on detected facade surfaces.

The Reaction

Approach

DNAi built the Baumit Color apps for iOS and Android: photos upload to a cloud backend, a neural model segments the facade, and the client recolours the mask interactively.

Technology

Custom segmentation network (PyTorch), AWS API/Lambda GPU inference, native mobile clients.

The Effect

Outcomes

Segmentation round-trips to the device in about 100 ms, enabling responsive recolouring. Editorial review of public positioning and app availability should be completed before go-live.
